If your Drivers Licence is lost or stolen in South Africa, you need to first complete a Declaration of Lost Documents Form and a Driving License Application Form (DL1).

Once you have completed the above forms, you need to submit your completed forms and the following documents to any driving license testing centre.

  • South African ID or valid RSA passport
  • If you are a foreign national, a traffic Register Certificate or a valid foreign ID
  • Two recent black-and-white ID-sized photographs
  • If you need a temporary licence, you’ll need three ID-sized photos in total.

You will then be notified via SMS when the replacement card is ready. You will need to collect it from the same testing centre you applied at.
